Information and Communication
Technology Department

The Information Technology Department is charged with providing leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of diverse technology projects. As an integral part of the institution, our team provide services that aids in the overall efficiency of the non-clinical as well as clinical departments. Our responsibilities cover the following areas:

  • Application development – Corporate website, Payment Gateway Implementation, Health Information System (HealthPro) etc.
  • Network contingencies – Implementation of a DR plan to ensure business continuity, augmenting network infrastructure for capacity planning.
  • Cybersecurity – determine security vulnerabilities to mitigate risks etc.
  • IP Telephony – Facilitate voice communication within the UGMC community and externally.
  • Rendering Technical Support to end-users.

In a quaternary institution such as UGMC, the ability to communicate, collaborate and automate routine task is key and the IT department is responsible for providing the infrastructure for this.
MISSION The mission is to ensure governance of UGMC’s technological systems, maintain its infrastructure, and improve the functionality of the systems overall.

VISION Our vision is to provide the best IT services to improve the functions of the healthcare system and support the growth of the institution.
