The ‘Nightingale Challenge’ launched at UGMC
Twenty-One (21) Nursing staff of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), have undergone a leadership training programme as part of their preparations towards the ‘Nursing Now Nightingale Challenge’. The training was done by the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Mrs. Judith Asiamah.
Twenty-One (21) Nursing staff of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), have undergone a leadership training programme as part of their preparations towards the ‘Nursing Now Nightingale Challenge’. The training was done by the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Mrs. Judith Asiamah.
Mrs. Asiamah stated that the ‘Nightingale Challenge’ was a global movement with the main goal of equipping and empowering the next generation of nurses and midwives as leaders, practitioners and advocates of health. She indicated that the Movement had set a target of training a minimum of 20,000 nurses aged 35 years and under in at least 1,000 organizations worldwide. She added that at UGMC, the Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery Services was very excited to be part of the exercise and considered it as an opportunity to invest in young nurses and midwives to enable them to become pro-active leaders, find creative solutions and become more efficient at the workplace to improve patient care after the acquisition of their nursing licenses.
“The Challenge will help nurses at UGMC and other nurses from all works of life to gain recognition and also raise the status and profile of nursing,” Mrs. Asiamah said.
The selected nurses for the Nightingale Challenge at UGMC are as follows:
