Research Interest

My research interests focus on the following areas:

1.   Pharmacological and toxicological effects of plant medicines. To this effect, medicinal plants and nutraceuticals are studied using both in vitro and in vivo models to elucidate efficacy, possible mechanisms of action and toxicity of plan medicines and food supplements.

2.   Pharmacokinetics of medicines. The focus here is on pharmacokinetic profile of drugs given concomitantly to target species.  Results from such drug-drug interaction studies give us the opportunity to work out new dosage regime suitable for the judicious use of drugs.

3.   Microbial resistance to antimicrobial agents. This involves the studies of microbial resistance to antibiotics and antihelminthics using DNA extraction, Polymerase Chain Reaction and Genotyping to identify and elucidate possible mechanisms of microbial resistance to commonly used anti-infectives.
